Cambridge Semantics, The Smart Data Company®, is a rapidly growing enterprise Big Data Management and Exploratory Analytics software company. We are seeking a Sr. Account Executive to be responsible for selling to the Life Sciences industry with a particular emphasis selling to the R&D and clinical space. This role will focus on expanding the company’s market for its Smart Data Platform, BI/Data Analytics, and dashboard reporting capabilities. The company’s proprietary technology uses an integrated platform to bring together various disparate sources to analyze and manage data for R&D, Clinical, Drug Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and competitive intelligence. This position requires an experienced sales professional who is a self-starter with a proven track record of software solution sales, possesses a solid industry reputation and has a strong list of industry contacts. In addition, the candidate will have the following characteristics:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pipeline development leveraging company marketing programs, personal contacts and prospecting.

  • Securing new name accounts while up-selling existing accounts.

  • Developing a solid understanding of the company's products/solutions.

  • Delivering sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients.

  • Providing accurate and realistic tracking and reporting of sales activities.

  • Superior client relationship building/maintenance skills.

  • Communicating new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback    gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.

  • Coordinating company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales.


  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5-7+ years of enterprise software solution sales experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience selling solutions to the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industry is required.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and operate in a fast moving, entrepreneurial start-up environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely and communicate effectively with technical and delivery teams.

  • Proactive work ethic and action oriented sales approach.

  • Solid understanding of IT side of the Pharma Industry.

  • Strong pharma analytics, big data and/or sales & marketing experience a plus.

  • Excellent collaborative, communications and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated, with exceptional discipline to work independently in order to assure success.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to persuade and influence others with sound reasoning and logic.
