Bill Veghte is Executive Chairman of the Board of Turbonomic. Bill brings over 25 years of experience in technology & business leadership to Turbonomic. Prior to that he spent 5 years in a variety of leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard during its turnaround including as COO, EVP/GM of the HP Enterprise Group and GM of HP SW. Prior to HP, Veghte spent 19 years at Microsoft in a variety of senior roles including running the Windows business, the Windows Server business and leading Microsoft’s North American Sales Marketing, and Services organization.
Chief Executive Officer
Ben Nye is Chief Executive Officer of Turbonomic, the leader in workload automation for hybrid cloud. Ben has over 20 years of experience as a senior business leader in the enterprise software space. Prior to Turbonomic, he was Senior Vice President at VERITAS Software following its acquisition of Precise Software, where he served as COO and CFO of Precise. During his tenure, Ben helped build Precise from a $10M privately-held company to a $100M public company – which subsequently became the fastest growing public company in its space. Ben also is co-managing partner at Bain Capital Ventures.
Ben has been named to the Forbes annual “Midas List” of top VC investors three times. He currently serves on the board of several companies including Solarwinds, Rapid7, SevOne, and AppNeta. Previously, Ben was a principal at Allied Capital. He also served as a political appointee member of the Senior Executive Service and direct report to US Treasury Secretaries Robert Rubin and Lloyd Bentsen.
As a Harvard Scholar, Ben graduated with honors from Harvard College and Harvard Business School.
Founder and President
Shmuel is founder and president of VMTurbo and a recent Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. He directs the technology teams encompassing development, product strategy and management, customer success and customer support. Prior to founding VMTurbo, Shmuel served as Vice President of Architecture and Applied Research in the EMC CTO Office. Prior to joining the CTO Office, Shmuel was the Chief Technology Officer of EMC’s Resource Management Software Group. Shmuel Kliger joined EMC with the acquisition of SMARTS. Shmuel Kliger was a Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of SMARTS.
As CTO of SMARTS Shmuel Kliger was responsible for setting SMARTS vision and strategy, managing SMARTS R&D organization, as well as Professional Services, Technical Support and Technology Partner Development. Prior to joining SMARTS, Shmuel was a member of the Distributed Systems Software Technology department at IBM Research developing middleware technologies. Shmuel also served as a senior researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel, and Manager of Technical Support Services for International Business Software in Israel. Shmuel holds a B.S. in mathematics from Bar Ilan University, an M.Sc.and a Ph.D. in computer science from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.
Chief Financial Officer
Mo brings over 15 years of financial management and business strategy experience to VMTurbo where as CFO he is responsible for finance and operations. Previously, Mo was CFO of dynaTrace, an application performance management software company acquired by Compuware for $265 million in July 2011, where he was the first U.S. employee and helped grow the business from less than a million dollars in revenue to a run rate of $32 million in four years. Mo also held executive roles at Bain Capital Ventures and VERITAS Software, which he joined after the acquisition of Precise Software.
At Precise, Mo served as VP of strategic planning/M&A and VP of finance. He was part of the management team involved in the IPO of the company in June 2000 and its acquisition by VERITAS for over $650 million in June 2003.
VP of Product Strategy, Co-Founder
Prior to joining VMTurbo, Yuri managed the Advanced Solution group in the EMC CTO Office and worked very closely with EMC’s Architecture and Applied Research teams in prototyping and innovating across a broad range of technology stacks and solutions. He joined EMC with the acquisition of SMARTS. Yuri had a long and diverse career with SMARTS: he was a member of the founding team, managed engineering and product development, and was responsible for technology partnership development, managing relationships with strategic accounts.
Yuri worked in several other high-tech startups managing engineering and products in storage and system management, IP telephony and collaboration. Earlier in his career, Yuri managed a research lab at the Russian Academy of Sciences Informatics Institute, carrying out applied research in operating systems, resource management, and user interfaces. Yuri holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and M.S. in computer science from Moscow Technical University of Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in computer science from Russian Academy of Sciences Informatics Institute.
VP of Enterprise Sales
Dave brings more than 20 years of technology sales expertise to his role as VP of Enterprise Sales at VMTurbo. With proven success as both an individual contributor and managing sales teams at scale, Dave is leading VMTurbo’s enterprise sales team to successfully attack new markets, expand internationally and drive revenue growth. Over the course of his career, Dave has been a recipient of numerous awards for sales achievement, including top field representative worldwide as well as earning the President’s Club across multiple companies.
Prior to joining VMTurbo, Dave served as VP of Sales for the Eastern US and Canada at Compuware, where he successfully managed a $55 million business. He was also part of the founding sales team at dynaTrace. Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College.
VP of Customer Success
Dan brings over 20 years of proven success creating, leading and scaling organizations that drive customer satisfaction and success in the software industry. Most recently at Compuware as VP of North America APM Pre-Sales, he started and built the Systems Engineering, Support and Enablement team of dynaTrace contributing to sales growth and subsequent Compuware acquisition. Before dynaTrace, he built Network Intelligence’s global customer support, professional services and systems engineering groups to drive high customer satisfaction and repeat sales also cumulating acquisition by EMC.
Previously, Mr. Germain was Vice President of Customer Support Precise Software Solutions. As part of the founding management team, Mr. Germain built and ran the support team and systems engineering team through the high growth years, successful IPO and subsequent acquisition by Veritas Software. Mr. Germain also brings field experience from Open Data, Information Builders and NYNEX in a variety of technical roles.
Chief Technology Officer
Charles is Chief Technology Officer of VMTurbo. In this role he contributes to product strategy, evangelizes our technology, and supports our strategic sales and business development efforts. Prior to joining VMTurbo, Charles held senior executive positions at several technology startups including Cirba, Mformation Technologies, Opalis Software, and Cybermation. Opalis was acquired by Microsoft in 2009 and is now Microsoft System Center Orchestrator, a key technology in Microsoft’s data center platform. Cybermation was acquired by CA Inc. in 2006 and is now CA Workload Automation ESP/DE, part of the market leading CA Workload Automation portfolio.
Subsequent to the Cybermation acquisition Charles joined CA as SVP Development responsible for the entire workload automation portfolio representing more than $200M in annual revenue and used by more than 80% of the Fortune 500. Earlier in his career he held various positions in software development, consulting, and education. Charles holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Chief People Officer
Kara is the Chief People Person at Turbonomic. She is focused on accelerating Turbonomic’s growth through hiring and developing our most important investment, our people.
She brings a variety of experience building and leading high performing sales teams in rapidly growing technology companies. Most recently as Operating Partner at Bain Capital Ventures, Kara focused on go to market initiatives with early stage high technology companies. Prior to that she spent over 3 years as the Senior Vice President of Sales for Rapid7 where she grew the sales team from 25 people and $20m in sales to over 100 people/$100m and a successful IPO.
SVP of Global Alliances
Jennifer is the SVP of Global Strategic Partners, where she leads our strategic partners, alliances and business development teams. Jennifer has over three decades of experience leading digital transformation, strengthened by the various positions she has held – starting as a programmer, to managing technology decisions as a CIO for a high-tech company, to leading the worldwide commercial and channel segment for Microsoft. With over 21 years at Microsoft, her last leadership role was serving as Worldwide Vice President for Corporate Accounts and Partner Sales, where her team grew cloud revenue contribution to nearly 40 percent of the all up business by driving co-engagement engines with over 2,500 partners reaching over 85,000 customers. She was named to CRN’s “Women of the Channel” in 2015.
Chief Marketing Officer
Tom is Chief Marketing Officer at Turbonomic, the leader in workload automation for hybrid cloud. With decades of global marketing experience, Tom helps power Turbonomic’s growth by driving brand awareness and demand generation in the enterprise cloud market.
Prior to Turbonomic, Tom served a dual role as CMO / SVP of Sales at Bradford Networks, a leader in network security, where he was responsible not only for demand generation, positioning and brand awareness, but also top-line revenue. Before Bradford, Tom was at Bit9 (now Carbon Black), a leading provider of next generation endpoint security solutions, where he led the marketing organization as CMO, helping position it as a market leader. He has also held various marketing and product leadership positions at technology companies such as Symantec, Veritas and BMC, after beginning his career as a developer / IT architect at GTE. Tom earned an MS in Computer Science from Northeastern.
Chief Operating Officer
Mark Thurmond is Chief Operating Officer at Turbonomic, the leader in workload automation for hybrid cloud. He leads global sales and enablement, partner and strategic alliances, customer success and marketing operations. Mark is responsible for aligning Turbonomic’s global operations to deliver the best possible outcomes for customers and partners along their journey to the hybrid cloud.
Thurmond is an accomplished technology industry veteran with IT infrastructure and cloud domain experience. He joins Turbonomic from his most recent position as Executive Vice President at Qlik Technologies, where he led Worldwide Sales and Services. Prior to Qlik Technologies, he held global sales and operations leadership positions for multiple business units within Boston-based EMC, including RSA and VCE (all now part of Dell Technologies). Prior to that, he held sales leadership positions in Europe and Asia at PTC.

It has been an incredible journey for me over 5.5 years at Turbonomic as a job out of school. The opportunities, challenges, strong product and great team provides the perfect balance that a passionate engineer looks for. It has been more than a regular job for me and definitely the right choice I made out of school.
As long as I have the time and the passion for it, Turbonomic is saying to everyone “how far do you want to go today? My journey at Turbonomic is just getting started and it’s so cool to realize that so long as I am here, I will be doing what I love and not “working."
