His background and career path leading up to Motus
Hi, I'm Phong Nguyen Chief Executive Officer at Motus. You know, the key themes in my career is I've typically grad gravitated to companies that are in dynamic competitive spaces that are really trying to reinvent a big problem and solve a big problem. Typically, these are VC backed or public companies. Recent positions for me include SVP and general manager at Concur Technologies. Where I was on the executive team, we grew the company, and ultimately sold it to SAP for eight and a half billion dollars. And I was also Chief Operating Officer at accolade, when I joined as a venture backed company, we took a public two years ago, and accolade has been active in reinventing personalized health care.
What attracted him to Motus and their winning culture
You know, back to the theme of my career, you know, I'm really attracted to companies that are dynamic, trying to solve big problems. And I think motors fits perfectly into that, you know, Motus in the space of helping companies manage spend around personal vehicles and other assets. And it's a really complex space Motors has a 15 year history of proven track record of being the number one player in this space. So it's an incredibly interesting position. It's a company that wants to win and reinvent. And then importantly, it has a winning culture. So people who are incredibly engaged in the company in the mission, an environment where people can really learn and grow, and have fun working with others.
The biggest challenges for the industry in the upcoming years
If you look at the space that Motus is in is, it's about, you know, managing spend and risk and in the think about our customers and the environment that our customers are dealing with today. It's a very uncertain environment. So there's global, you know, global market risks, political risks, there's inflation, there's, it's still competitive, dynamic workforce. And it's more distributed with the hybrid work environments. And so if your job in the company is trying to manage the spend for the company, manage risk for that company and manage how you know, people are using their cars for work. It's even harder and harder in this type of environment. And so Motus is perfectly situated to help companies rethink and approach differently and how they're managing their spend and assets. And so it's a perfect environment for motorists. And I think about, you know, opportunities for, you know, employees of notice. So people who are really creative people who like to solve problems, people who are technology oriented, who can think about ways new ways to apply technology to solve problems. So think about using things like artificial intelligence to attack the problem, a different way to think about ways in which we could use data to solve and help companies better manage their spend around these personal assets. So I think it's an exciting time for notice. And the fact that we're market leader in this space gives our employees tons of opportunities to innovate and grow.
