Since I'm working out of my bedroom, I focused on making my workstation professional and motivating. The photos behind my desk are from Iceland and Ireland, and are often a great ice-breaker/talking point. For my own view, I have my "No Stopping" sign, from the 2014 Boston Marathon, to keep me motivated. My vertical dual-monitor set-up works well on my adjustable standing desk with a limited footprint. I love my Rocketbook for jotting notes during meetings, and keep my stuffed Nessie on my desk for connecting with the occasional co-workers' kids dropping in on meetings.

Pictured is a WFH setup that shares some accessories with a gaming desktop, so I have a KVM switch to share my monitors, webcam, keyboard, mouse, and tablet between the two systems. The whole setup doesn't take up too much space, so I have plenty of desk area to fit a Millennium Falcon Lego set still in need of a proper hanger!

This setup features a micro four-thirds camera as a webcam, along with a wired remote shutter to refocus as needed. With all the peripherals, the built-in USB hub in the desk comes in handy. Lighting, including the video light in the corner, is all connected to a SmartThings hub. I wrote a Google Apps script to connect my calendar and lighting so that when I have a meeting about to start, the video light turns on, the ceiling light and lamps in the room adjust to the appropriate color temperature for video, and some accent lights in my kids' work area turn red to indicate I'm in a meeting and they shouldn't bug me. Finally, the lights will turn off or change the temperature at 6pm to remind me the work day is over.

This is my current nerd cave. It's not super pretty, not decorated and doesn't have fancy illumination, but it's super nerdy :nerd_face: On the right side is my electronics workspace with everything you need to break, build, and repair electronics: Test gear, soldering irons, a power supply, etc. On the bench are a bunch of boards I am trying to fix right now and on the left side my current research hardware for the day job. The shelves are filled with cables, electronic components, computers, and networking gear. Everything you need if you like electronics and computers. On the left side is my main work and free-time desk with my work and personal computers. Since it's evening now, I already switched to free-time mode. Early last year, just during the first Covid-caused lockdown here, Microsoft released their newest flight simulator. I tried it out and got hooked. I bought proper controls, built some holders and now I can travel around the world as the captain of an airplane without even leaving the house :male-pilot:

My elaborate set up now features 2x 2K 165hz IPS monitors, my work laptop, a TV with Philips Hue integrated bias lighting (for when work is done of course :wink:), my gaming PC with a quick switch button, mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blue keys, a Stream Deck control panel with over 30 macros for controlling zoom calls, lighting, heating, music etc. - and most importantly of all - a mug warmer to keep my tea warm on cold days :teapot:
