Role overview
As a Marketing Analytics Principal, your data insights will play a big part in supporting all Marketing teams. You will be responsible for owning new campaign tracking setup and ongoing measurement to optimize performance across our products as well as supporting strategic cross-channel analyses to improve our overall return on ad spend. In this role, you will work cross functionally with Marketing, Product and Data Science to provide novel insights in support of our strategic decision-making. This role is a combination of analytics, strategy, and marketing. A successful candidate must love strategic thinking through data, testing hypothesis, challenging assumptions, and understanding how different functional pieces work to drive data-driven recommendations to accelerate growth.
What you'll do
- Measure performance of existing campaigns and conduct data-driven analysis to understand impact on traffic value vs. volume and benefits across verticals to determine cross-sell impact and return on ad spend
- Develop quantitative analysis and ad hoc reports to support marketing decisions and improve marketing performance related to: media mix modeling, marketing spend efficiency, user lifetime value, user engagement & retention, and return on investment
- Own new campaign set-up and on-going measurement for brand and product marketing campaigns to optimize performance
- Develop frameworks for forecasting, exploring trends, and spotting anomalies
- Conduct deep dives & analytical investigations into inconsistent trends in data
- Partner with key stakeholders to frame our most critical business questions and recommend data driven approaches to answering them by incorporating business trends, customer needs and overall company strategy into solutions
- Synthesize complex findings into actionable insights and recommendations
- Communicate results, key insights and recommendations to key partners and senior leadership to drive marketing strategic thinking and actionable next steps from an analytics perspective
- Own marketing analytics roadmap to inform prioritization
What you'll bring
- 4-6 years of experience in data analysis (experience in marketing/product analytics a plus)
- Expert Fluency in SQL
- Experience with Python and R
- Experience with Looker and/or other modern business intelligence platforms (e.g. Tableau, Domo)
- Bachelors degree in an analytical or social science major (e.g. math, statistics, economics) preferred
- Curious, data-oriented thinker with excellent strategic, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities
- Proactive in anticipating and identifying flaws in various approaches to measurement and analysis, as well as practical about the limitations of analysis and capable of conveying those limitations
- Strong analytical skillsetable to translate quantitative and qualitative inputs into actionable strategic direction
- Strong written and verbal communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills able to confidently explain complex analyses to senior leadership through a compelling story
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and developing relationships across various levels of the business, inspiring credibility and confidence across stakeholders
- Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
