Who you are:
We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to lead Hometaps Fund and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) accounting. Youll work with third party administrators and internal stakeholders to ensure that Hometaps funds are managed accurately and efficiently. Youre a great fit for this role if you bring strong experience doing all aspects of a fund close (from reconciling cash to partnership allocations), can balance working in a fast-paced environment with maintaining quality, and are eager to work cross-functionality to help business partners better and more quickly utilize fund related reporting.
Finance is organized into three collaborative verticals: Operational Finance, Capital Markets Operations, and Strategic Finance. Our Senior Fund Accountant will report to the VP of Finance, as part of Operational Finance, and work closely across the finance team and with other stakeholders to execute on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible.
What youll do:
- Own fund and asset vehicle accounting and financial reporting for several entities, including private equity style GP/LP funds and SPVs
- Work with Hometaps third-party fund administrators to resolve open items and ensure capital calls, distributions, and quarterly reporting are completed accurately and on time
- Partner with independent third party valuation firms to value assets (e.g. mark to market or mark to model)
- Perform internal shadow accounting for intra-period reporting, and to reconcile against books and records maintained by administrators
- Prepare audit and tax compliance liaison deliverables, in conjunction with Accounting Manager and VP of Finance
- Collaborate cross functionally to incorporate fund and SPV reporting into operating company models and management reporting
- Work with VP of Finance to plan new entity launches and onboard new entities
- Prepare daily treasury activity
- Diligently seek opportunities for improvement in systems and processes
- Support Operating Company accounting on an as-needed basis
What youll bring:
- 4+ years of fund accounting experience, in-house or at a fund accounting firm
- Full-stack experience doing all aspects of fund closes (cash, valuations, holdings, expenses, partnership allocations, financial and account statements, etc.)
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles (for example, how a transaction impacts the Balance Sheet, Statement of Operations, and Cash Flow Statement)
- Strong analytical and Excel-based analytical skills; comfortable working with large datasets
- Ability to successfully operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment experiencing growth and expansion
- History of working cross-functionally and building positive relationships with people and teams across a diverse organization
- Excellent prioritization skills and ability to balance both short-term and long-term objectives
- Curiosity and strong critical thinking skills
- A good sense of humor, a rock-solid work ethic, and exceptional attention to detail
- Based in Boston preferred
